Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in .

A guy was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: “It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.

“These kinds of items being sold, typically online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

“You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this might have on your health.”
