Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, said: “It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.

“These types of items being offered, normally online, have actually gone through no quality control and there can be no warranty about their security.

“You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health.”
